Your Home Has a Scent Wardrobe Too

Most homes have one candle. It lives on the coffee table, it gets lit when guests are coming, and it smells the same in the lounge as it does in the bathroom.

That's a missed opportunity. A kitchen needs something different from a bedroom, and a Monday morning at your desk needs something different from a Saturday night with friends. If you've started building a scent wardrobe for your skin, it's time to build one for your home.

First, pick your format

The OmniScent candle range comes in three formats, each with its own job.

Signature Candles are the statement pieces. Twelve scents, built for the rooms where you spend real time and the evenings you want people to remember.

Companion Candles are the everyday ones. Six scents, a smaller vessel, and a lower price, so you can keep one in every room without thinking twice.

Wax Melt Buttons carry the same six scents as the Companion Candles, in a flame-free format for a wax warmer. Drop in a few buttons, and when you fancy a change, swap them out. They're also the cheapest way to test a scent before committing to the candle.

The living room: first impressions

This is where guests form their opinion of your home, usually within the first minute. Go warm and grounded.

Signature Exotic Woods is deep and a little mysterious, the kind of scent that makes a room feel furnished even before you've looked around.
Signature Bergamot & Sandalwood is its lighter sibling, with bright citrus over smooth, creamy wood that works as well at noon as it does at nine. For something smokier, the Dark Amber & Oud Companion Candle brings resin and warmth without the Signature price.

The kitchen: clean, bright, and green

Kitchens need scents that sit comfortably alongside food rather than competing with it. Think citrus and herbs.

Signature Lime, Basil & Mandarin smells like someone's been cooking with fresh ingredients, which is precisely the point.
Signature Pomegranate & Sage balances juicy fruit with an aromatic, herbal edge.
The Lemongrass, Lime & Ginger Companion Candle is the zesty option, sharp enough to lift the room after the dishes are done.

The home office: stay awake

If you work from home, your desk deserves a scent that keeps you sharp rather than sleepy.

The Watermint & Guarana Companion Candle is cool and electric, the closest thing to caffeine you can light. The Orange & Juniper Companion Candle is gentler: bright citrus and aromatic greens for long afternoons. Both are ideal as Wax Melt Buttons for the office, since you can walk away from a warmer without worrying about an open flame.

The bathroom: fresh air, bottled

Bathrooms want clean and airy, never heavy.

Signature Saltwater & Sea brings the coast inland, with crisp sea air and a soft, breezy finish. Signature Coconut & Lime leans tropical, somewhere between a beach holiday and a good spa. The Fresh Linen Companion Candle smells like towels straight off the line, and the Fresh Linen Wax Melt Buttons work beautifully in a guest bathroom.

The bedroom: slow down

Bedrooms are for softer, calmer scents that help a day wind down.

Signature Ylang Ylang is floral and quietly exotic, with a calm that settles over the room. Signature Peony & Blush Suede pairs soft petals with a powdery, skin-like warmth. The Milk & Honey Companion Candle is the comfort scent of the range, creamy and golden, like a warm drink before bed.

Dinner and entertaining: the evening crowd

When the lights go down and the table fills up, this is where the Signature range earns its name.

Signature Dark & Handsome is bold, warm, and magnetic. Light it an hour before guests arrive and let it do the talking. Signature Bergamot, Tonka & Jasmine balances sparkling citrus with warm tonka and a heady floral heart, elegant without being formal. Signature Cherry Blossom & Pink Pepper is the conversation starter: delicate florals with a fiery kick of spice.

And Signature Vanilla Bean Noel, creamy, sweet, and unapologetically festive, is the one to put aside now. December is closer than it looks.

How to get the best burn

A good candle can be ruined in its first hour. So here are a few rules for the best burn and candle maintenance.

Let the first burn go all the way. Keep the candle lit until the melted wax reaches the edge of the vessel. Blow it out too early, and it will tunnel down the middle for the rest of its life, wasting wax and scent.

Trim the wick before every burn. Around 5mm is right. A long wick burns too hot, smokes, and blackens the glass.

Don't burn for more than about four hours at a time. Beyond that, the wick can become unstable. Let it rest, trim it, and relight it.

Keep it out of drafts. An open window or ceiling fan makes the flame flicker, which causes uneven burning and soot.

Never leave a lit candle unattended.

Start with one room

You don't need to scent your whole house this weekend. Pick the room you spend the most time in, choose a scent that suits what happens there, and notice how differently it feels.

Then move on to the next one. Explore the full OmniScent candle range and build your home's scent wardrobe one room at a time.
